We are always looking to expand our shoe collection and this time the latest addition to our stock collection is the result of a collaboration with Erik Gederberg, also known as @erikged on Instagram. Erik has been involved in the creation of the model and he has also choosed the particular shade of suede used in these shoes. The shoes can be found by going to our stock collection of shoes by choosing "Shoes" in the menu. When the shoes were finished we talked a bit with Erik about shoes and fashion and here is the result in this interview, hope you like it!

How can you describe the process behind the making of the shoes? What were your thoughts?
Well, i'll find it difficult to ever be completely satisfied with my own rotation and i will most likely always feel that there is something missing. At this stage i felt that i was lacking in the suede department in general and suede oxford in particular. I've always been a fan of balmoral boots so i thought let's give a balmoral oxford in snuff/tobacco suede a shot.
Any special thoughts about the choice of suede color?
At first i thought to make it a bit darker but i find this option more wearable and i really appreciate the shade of the snuff/tobacco.
At what occasions do you think these shoes will be a good choice?
I think that this model is workable for most occasions and expect to wear them to basically everything except when there is a formal dress code. During spring/autumn i will wear them to flannels or a pair of raw selvedge denim and during the summertime chinos or a linen/cotton suit.
How did your interest in shoes start?
When i was growing up i was a punk rocker playing in a band with various hair colors so you can imagine that i was as far from a shoe lover as possible. I wore a pair of Converse sneakers full year round (even during winter time when it could be -20 and tons of snow). When i was "growing up" and got myself my first job after graduation i soon realized that i needed to improve my wardrobe, not only cloths but shoes as well. When surfing the internet i found Justin Fitzpatrick's blog The Shoe Snob and from that day i was sold. My first pair of quality shoes was a pair of Loake 1880 (Knightbridge) and i was really happy with them at the time. Later i read a post about Crockett and Jones and thought that i'll never buy such expensive shoes. Later that i week i was strolling in the city centre and could see that big C&J logo outside Larssons Skomakeri. I barely got into the place before i spotted the owners shiny shoes and it was love at first sight. When i asked him if they were new he told me that they indeed were new, 17 years ago. That particular moment was a game changer for me, that was when i first realized that quality shoes will last for years and years on, as long as you take care of them. I went home and gave it some thought, and went ordered 5 pairs C&J at the same time.
Any personal favorite shoes?
My Quintus from Antonio Meccariello's Aurum line.
Any particular shoes you feel that you are missing in your collection?
Let me put it this way, i have about 50 pairs on my phone that i look at every day (my wife is used to it now..) Time will tell but i hope to add some new stunners in the near future.
How much time do you spend on shoe care?
Less now since our daughter came into our lives but a couple of hours every other week.
Most used shoe care products?
Saphir Medaille d'Or Creme and Pate De lux.
One shoe care product you cant be without?
Pate De lux.
Your best advice for people who just got interested in quality shoes?
Take care of them. There is really no reason to buy quality shoes if you don't intend to do that.
What is your personal style? Favorite brands?
Comfortable, contemporary and classic. Favorite brands? Tricky, but i'll go for Neapolitan Tailoring (It would take forever to name them all..) when it comes to Suits/Jackets/Shirts, Drakes for accessories and Sunspel for the casual part of the wardrobe.
We at Skolyx would also like to thank Erik very much for the collaboration and the interview.
Here is the result of the collaboration (more pictures will come in the next weeks):
